Gemini personality
Gemini is Mutable Air ruled by Mercury, the planet of thought and communication. It is the zodiac's collector of ideas, conversations and experiences. Gemini wants to know how things work, who said what and what happens next, and it moves between interests with ease.
The twins symbol points to Gemini's range. It can see two sides of any question and argue both. That makes Gemini a brilliant communicator, teacher and networker, and it can also leave Gemini torn between options for too long.
Gemini's work is learning to go deep as well as wide: choosing a few threads and following them all the way through.
Gemini strengths
- +Quick, curious mind
- +Gifted communicator

The Gemini symbol
Gemini is the twins, two people who share everything and still see the world from slightly different angles. The glyph ♊ looks like the Roman numeral two: two upright lines for the twins, joined by a bar at the top and the bottom.
The twins are Castor and Pollux (Polydeuces in Greek), brothers of Helen of Troy and sons of Leda. In the usual telling, Pollux was the immortal son of Zeus and Castor was the mortal son of King Tyndareus. Both sailed with the Argonauts. When Castor was killed, Pollux begged Zeus to let him share his immortality with his brother, and Zeus let the two stay together, set side by side among the stars.
The Lovers is Gemini's tarot card. Beyond love, it is a card about choices, a fitting link for the sign that always sees two options. The pairing comes from the Golden Dawn tradition that most modern tarot decks follow.
When is Gemini season?
The Sun is in Gemini from about May 21 to June 20, the last month of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, ending at the June solstice. In the Southern Hemisphere it's late autumn, heading into the shortest days of the year.
Gemini in love
In love, Gemini needs mental connection first. Flirting happens through banter, messages and shared jokes, and a partner who makes Gemini think will hold its attention far longer than one who only makes it feel. Gemini wants freedom and variety inside a relationship. Routine without conversation is what makes it drift.
What Gemini needs: A partner who is curious, talkative and secure enough to give it room.
Gemini work and money
Gemini shines in work that involves language, information and people. Writing, media, teaching, sales and marketing all suit it. It does well with variety in the day and struggles in roles that repeat the same task for years.
Careers that often suit Gemini: Journalism and writing, Teaching and training, Marketing and communications, Sales, Translation or interpreting.
Gemini tends to earn from more than one source, a main job plus a side project, freelance work or something it sells online. It spends on books, gadgets, classes and anything new, often in small amounts that add up. A budget app that tracks every purchase keeps Gemini honest without boring it.
Gemini as a friend
As a friend, Gemini is the connector who knows everyone and introduces them to each other. It is great company, up for anything and always has a story.
Wellbeing
Gemini's energy is mostly mental, so its wellbeing depends on quieting the mind. Breathing practice, walking and varied exercise help. Too much screen time and too many open loops leave Gemini wired and tired. Traditional astrology links Gemini to the arms, hands, shoulders and lungs.

Gemini compatibility
Gemini's easiest matches are Aries, Leo, Libra and Aquarius, whose elements support Air. Its opposite sign, Sagittarius, brings strong attraction and a lot to learn. By tradition, the hardest pairings for Gemini are Virgo and Pisces, which square it, and Scorpio and Capricorn, which sit at an awkward 150° quincunx. Those signs want a firmer commitment or more emotional depth than Gemini offers at first, which takes patience on both sides, and the effort pays off when both want the same future.

Did the zodiac dates change? What about Ophiuchus?
No. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, which is tied to the March equinox and the seasons, so Gemini still runs from about May 21 to Jun 20. The constellations with the same names have drifted because of precession, a slow wobble in Earth's axis, so the Sun now sits in front of different stars on those dates. Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer, is a constellation the Sun crosses in late November and early December, and it has never been one of the 12 tropical signs.
Your mind is running at full speed today, which is both your gift and your challenge. Mercury is amplifying your ability to see multiple angles simultaneously, but the sheer number of possibilities can make it hard to commit to any one path. Pick the thread that genuinely excites you and follow it. You don't have to drop the others. Just stay with one long enough to make something real. Sometimes the best idea is the one you had last month.
